Uravu: This is a charitable trust that works in the area of indigenous sciences and technology. They run a successful bamboo crafts design and production centre along with a bamboo nursery. Uravu has a whole new range of functional and decorative products created out of this wonderful material found abundantly in Wayanad. They also carry out research in the field of treatment for preservation of Bamboo and its usage in house construction.

Jaigopal G Rao and Latha Raman Jaigopal, a husband-wife team of architects with several, unique, eco-friendly buildings and approaches to their credit, head Inspiration, an architect-builder firm based in Kerala. These include structures that combine stone, brick, mud, timber, laterite, etc, and feature large rain-harvesting reservoirs, waste-water treatment systems, solar and bio-mass energy systems, etc. Their commitment to sustainable alternatives has gone beyond commonly used materials such as brick, concrete, cement, steel, etc, to settle on building with bamboo.
